Filter and Discernment

In today’s generation, our society has become more immersed in technology and more knowledge is available because of the internet. Technology and its effectiveness makes it possible for the economy to prosper. The pillars of society like the education system and healthcare, arts and culture, sports, television & radio media, just to name a few. They have prospered because of the fast download of information. These are the PROS of technology. What about the CONS? because of the large amount of information that is being downloaded unto the society, we must become aware and vigilant of what we put our attention and fix our eyes unto. We must have a filter that discerns the information that is being downloaded unto us. Having an awareness, alertness and sober mindedness is this day and age is crucial, especially to the younger generation because they have been born into this digital age and they are still learning to filter and discern the information being put into their minds. In my early childhood education studies, we often refer to the children’s brain and minds as a SPONGE that just soaks up information as they grow, that is why they are able to learn a language and perceive the world around them in a few years time. Now what does that have got to do with technology and modern age? More and more children are getting bullied via the internet, and most people, even adults even have suicidal thoughts and even commit self-harm and suicide. 

How should I filter and discern my environment?

 

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.

Filter what goes into your eyes, into your ears, into your minds and into your hearts! What you see and pay attention to and fix your eyes unto is very important. For example, We have a choice, the freewill to what we watch in our tablets, television and what we hear in our playlist and radio stations. If you know that this certain movie or song will make you think and imagine about impure and sinful things then click on the next button! Turn off the television or choose another movie where you will learn instead of movies that invokes fear, doubt and sexual immoral views.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
